Joy Magruder, MD

Dr. Joy Magruder has been practicing family medicine for over 20 years. Dr. Magruder received a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA in 1997. While at the medical college, she participated in the Physician Shortage Area Program which focuses on training doctors to practice rural family medicine.

In 2000, Dr. Magruder completed the University of Minnesota Duluth Family Medicine Residence Program. She also received a Family Medicine Certification (FMC) from the American Board of Family Medicine in 2000.

She spent 5 years practicing full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetrics, in rural Proctor, MN. In 2005 her and her family moved to Riverton, WY where she practiced rural medicine for 9 years, followed by 3 years based out of the neighboring town of Thermopolis, WY.

In 2016 she and her family moved to sunny Northern Colorado, and now, together with Dr. Jennifer McCabe Lentz, is one of two family medicine doctors at Direct Primary Care of Northern Colorado.

Dr. Magruder loves taking care of and spending time with her patients, which is why she made the move the direct patient care (DPC) model. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and having time to take care of acute and chronic issues individually with every patient.

She treats her patients with the care and compassion she would want for her own family members.

The Rest Of Our Family

Todd Lentz

Office Manager

Todd was born and raised in Fort Collins and met Jenn here 19+ years ago. They started a family here, then moved to the Pacific Northwest for a short time. He and his family came back to Colorado (Loveland) and finally back to Fort Collins to stay. Todd did not imagine working in a medical setting those 19 years ago, however would not choose to do anything else. He enjoys meeting new patients and greeting familiar ones. He takes the chance to promote the practice at every opportunity. A path like this rarely comes along and Todd has no regrets serving Direct Family Care of NoCO.

Jenn and Todd have 4 kids and love hanging out with them and watching them grow. They are involved in a myriad of activities which we do our best to support and attend when able. Todd enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and camping with family and friends. Fort Collins is a great place to raise a family and we are all pleased to have roots here.

Katie Sanderson

Katie graduated in 2001 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Our providers are outstanding women who care very deeply about their patients and work hard to provide them with the best care they possibly can”.

Katie lives in Loveland with her Husband and two sons. The boys are active in soccer and marching band. She enjoys working part time, because her family life is full of activities. When they have free time Katie and her family enjoy camping and outdoor fun. She is a valuable part of our practice and we love what she offers our patients in kind and reassuring care.
